Numara® Software, Inc. is a global provider of service desk management solutions for IT and support professionals who need to simplify and gain control over their increasingly complex environments.
Founded in 1991 as Blue Ocean Software, the company grew quickly to gain worldwide presence as the makers of Track-It!, the most widely installed help desk and asset management solution in the world.
Acquired by Intuit in 2002, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary under the Intuit umbrella, and continued to operate autonomously as Intuit IT Solutions, still focused on improving and broadening the Track-It! family of products and adding enhanced asset management, software patch and deployment and network monitoring capabilities.
In December of 2005, TA Associates, one of the world’s largest and most experienced private equity firms, purchased Intuit IT Solutions in a $200 million buyout, and renamed the company Numara® Software. With offices in Boston, Menlo Park and London, TA Associates manages over $6 billion in capital.
The genesis of the new company name comes from “Numara” meaning “new ocean” which simultaneously captures our respect for our heritage (Blue Ocean Software) and our confidence in the future. Shortly after launching as an independent entity, Numara® Software acquired UniPress Software and the leading mid-market FootPrints service desk line of 100% web-based, ITIL-compatible service desk software for help desk and support automation. In the market for over 10 years, FootPrints has been implemented at more than 2,400 organizations worldwide to streamline and automate support operations.
With a combined install base of more than 50,000 customers, led by two award-winning product lines, Numara® Track-It!® and Numara® FootPrints, Numara® Software is in a stronger position than ever before to dominate the service desk management market for small to mid-sized enterprises.
